Tran Hung Dao Bridge _ Hanoi Infinity

Tran Hung Dao Bridge - Infinity Hanoi

"Infinity bridge", a symbol of eternal prosperity of Hanoi new city zone

Up to now, the development of Hanoi has been concentrated on the West bank of the Red River where Hoan Kiem Lake is. The Tran Hung Dao road and the new bridge start from Hanoi station and arrive at Long Bien and Gia Lam district. Because the bridge is located in the heart of new city zone, it is an important chance to redefine the Big Hanoi,  which grows with both sides of the Red River as a larger urban area.

For this precious occasion, this bridge design named "Infinity bridge" composed by a couple of dynamic waves is aiming to show a strong sense of cooperation and connection between the both banks.

The two wavy lines, one come from East bank, another comes from West bank, are intimately rhythmical with each other and create one bridge space like an interior. The image of continuous waves shows a dramatic sequential view when crossing the bridge. From the satellite view, the waves show a connection between both sides of the bridge.

When citizens enjoy the bridge view from the river bank, the waves overlap together and create a series of infinity marks. This is a celebration of the successful development of Hanoi's new zone. This scenery is a symbol of Hanoi's development.

"Infinity" is inspired by the impression of vast space spreading over the Red River, a river with both lengths of history and width of space. The arch structure is two curving lines that intersect at the top and repeat 6 spans creating the symbol of infinity. With the views from the inside as well as from the outside, the curve shape changes continuously and is very impressive.

The new landscape created by the bridge will bring the concept of stability, development and prosperity to Hanoi's future.

The harmony between People - Bridge – River

Our ambition is to create Tran Hung Dao bridge to be a space for Hanoians to dialogue, interact, and feel the river. Therefore, the design along both sides of the bridge has many stops with a harmonious height and ratio so that people can feel the river closer to them.

On the bridge, we designed a spacious path for pedestrians and cyclists with seats on both sides. The bike path is separate from the walking path. On the pedestrian paths, there are resting spaces to watch the river, there are benches arranged along with the vertical structure of the bridge. On both sides of the bridge, the landscapes are designed so that pedestrians can sit and enjoy the view and interact with the river. On the Long Bien side, there is a large riverside park, which can be a place for big events, gather a large number of people, and is a landscape's highlight for the area.

The bridge is designed with 6 lanes, each side includes 2 motorized lanes and 1 mixed lane to ensure the traffic forecast of the area.

Weekend Entertainment Lighting Art “Dance of light” on the River

On pre-scheduled time slots on weekends, the design features landscape lighting effects associated with entertainment events. By placing flash lights on the cables and girders and installing the lights along the curve of the arch, creating a dynamic entertainment lighting “Dance of Lights”, Hanoians and tourists will enjoy the vivid scenery at night along the river, which will become a significant destination for people, creating a driving force for urban development along both banks of the Red River.
